Wrenegade Sports Announces the Colavita | Fine Cooking - Farm to Fork Fondo

Farm to Fork Fondo

The organizers of the hugely successful Rensselaerville Cycling Festival and Team Jamis - Hagens Berman Gran Fondo are pleased to announce the inaugural Colavita | Fine Cooking – Farm to Fork Fondo on June 28, 2015 at Cedar Lakes Estate in Orange County, New York.

The culinary-focused gran fondo will highlight the agriculture in the region with catered meals and mid-ride aid stations made from Colavita Italian specialty products, Fine Cooking Magazine recipes, and locally-sourced ingredients. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local Orange County farms and organizations via the innovative Volunteer Competition.

The event is organized by Wrenegade Sports, whose company mission is to create original combinations of health, social good, community and fun into unique and exciting athletic events.

Farm to Fork FondoThe Colavita | Fine Cooking – Farm to Fork Fondo will consist of four ride distance options and will begin with a celebratory mass start lead by the accomplished women of the Colavita | Bianchi Professional Cycling Team presented by Fine Cooking. Each distance option, from 11 to 93 miles in length, will include rest stops at working Orange County farms featuring locally-sourced hors d'oeurves. The beautiful rural rides pass bucolic landscapes and through the heart of the famous Orange County “black dirt” muck soil region, and highlight the importance of the local agriculture that supplies much of New York City and the surrounding region.

The Colavita | Fine Cooking – Farm to Fork Fondo will be hosted by Cedar Lakes Estate, a 500-acre secluded oasis in Greenville, New York, with extensive vegetable gardens, red-water lakes, cedar forests and elegant on-site lodging. Head chef Lisa Karvellas is a decorated farm-to-table specialist trained at the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan and in Tuscany and Sicily, Italy.

The Colavita | Fine Cooking – Farm to Fork Fondo will benefit local Orange County farms and organizations via the Volunteer Competition. Volunteers filling jobs such as staffing aid stations and marshaling intersections will be organized into teams each representing different local farms.

These teams will compete for participants' votes with their support and creativity, and the winning volunteer teams will win cash prizes for the farms they represent. Wrenegade Sports is actively seeking cash sponsorships for the Volunteer Competition and 100% of any donations received will be awarded to local Orange County farms at the event. Interested sponsors can contact Wrenegade Sports at info@WrenegadeSports.com.

Additional event partners include Sun-Maid, Bianchi Bicycles, Castelli, Vittoria, Rudy Project, CycleOps, Chamois Butt'r, GU Energy Labs, Ride With GPS, Raw Revolution, Stan's NoTubes, BikeReg, Pro Gold, Z Blok and BarFly.
