Happy Tummies Ride Local at Farm to Fork Fondo - Pennsylvania Dutch

World-class bicycling event heading to Amish Country

LANCASTER, PA Wrenegade Sports is pleased to introduce Farm to Fork Fondo – Pennsylvania Dutch. The mass-participation bicycling event will be held August 5 and 6, 2016, at The Country Barn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with 500 participants expected from throughout North America. The accessible community athletic event will highlight Lancaster County’s distinctive agriculture and the symbiotic relationship between cyclists, farmers and the region’s beautiful landscapes. The event is a part of the Farm to Fork Fondo event series organized by Wrenegade Sports, LLC.

Wrenegade Sports founder and former professional cyclist Tyler Wren summarized the mission of the event: “As cyclists, it is natural for us to support land owners who are able to preserve the open space that we enjoy so much on our bicycles and who use that land to grow food that can make us better athletes and healthier people. With the Farm to Fork Fondo – Pennsylvania Dutch, we want to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get on their bikes, experience this beautiful iconic farmland, meet and support the hardworking local farmers, learn about the pressures that these farms face, and have a great time in the process.”

“We are very excited to have Farm to Fork Fondo come to Lancaster County for the first time,” stated Discover Lancaster President Kathleen Frankford“Its natural combination of our farming heritage, beautiful landscape, and passion for cycling will create a beneficial and memorable event for participants, spectators, and partners alike.”

The Farm to Fork Fondo – Pennsylvania Dutch has ride distance options for cyclists of all abilities, and will begin with a celebratory mass start led by the Colavita | Bianchi Professional Cycling Team. All ride distances include aid station stops at a variety of working farms with treats sourced straight from the farms.

The Farm to Fork Fondo – Pennsylvania Dutch will benefit local farms via the innovative New Holland Volunteer Competition. Volunteers filling jobs such as staffing aid stations and marshaling intersections will be organized into teams each representing different local farms or charitable farm organizations. With their support and creativity, these teams will compete for participants' votes, and will all win cash donations for the farms and organizations they represent.

“New Holland is proud to partner with Wrenegade Sports and bring the Farm to Fork Fondo series to our home area in Pennsylvania,” said Dawn Pelon, Brand Marketing Communications Manager for New Holland North America. “This allows us to further support the local farming community and bring riders from all over the country to enjoy our beautiful Lancaster County with over 102,000 acres of preserved farmland.”

Wrenegade Sports is actively seeking additional sponsorship for the New Holland Volunteer Competition and 100% of any donations received will be awarded to local farms or charitable organizations at the event. Interested supporters can contact Wrenegade Sports at Info@WrenegadeSports.com.
