Richeze and Gavira seal Etixx-Quick Step one-two on Tour de Suisse stage four

Sprint stage at Suisse. 183km of peloton enjoying the scenery and letting the break of the day dangle out front. 9.9km of sprint trains getting organised followed by 100m of dramatic action from Sky's Danny van Poppel.

With a sharp right hand bend 100m from the finish, getting to the corner first was vital. Etixx-Quick Step played it perfectly.  Maximiliano Richeze came out of the corner with his designated sprinter Fernando Gaviria stuck to his wheel and they stayed in that order all the way to the line. Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) finished third and retains the leader’s jersey for one more day. Behind those three it all went heart-stoppingly crazy for Sky’s Danny van Poppel

We can argue all day about the rights and wrongs of thatcorner leading into a narrower road so close to the finish line. It was damn fine bike handling by Danny anyway you cut it. Very lucky he, and everyone behind him, stayed upright.
