Giant Adds All-new Disc Brake Road Bikes To Its Legendary TCR Lineup

The superior stiffness-to-weight and award-winning ride quality of TCR is now available with the added performance of integrated disc brake technology.

Giant, the world leader in cycling technology, is introducing its all-new TCR Disc range of road bikes, a modern blend of legendary road-riding performance with the added control of integrated disc brakes.

The new TCR Disc range includes three series: TCR Advanced SL Disc, TCR Advanced Pro Disc and TCR Advanced Disc.

Engineered, designed and developed to seamlessly integrate the proven advantages of disc brakes with the established benefits of TCR road bikes, the TCR Disc range delivers a new level of control to performance-minded road riders.

Each purpose-built frame is engineered with flat-mount disc brake technology for the most consistent braking power in all conditions. And the new front (12 x 100mm) and rear (12 x 142mm) thru-axle setups produce a race-tuned ride quality with unrivaled precision and steering stiffness. The TCR Advanced SL Disc and TCR Advanced Pro Disc models also come equipped with Giant’s SLR Disc WheelSystem and all-new Gavia SLR tubeless tires to boost efficiency, comfort and control.

The TCR platform has long been the bike of choice for Giant’s elite pro road racers, supplying several generations of riders with unrivaled all-around performance in the most demanding conditions and terrain. The new disc-brake version of the TCR was developed and field-tested over the past year with Team Giant-Alpecin riders.

2017 TCR Disc Range

The flagship series of the new range is the TCR Advanced SL Disc. The latest overall frame design, reengineered last year and ridden to stage wins in the Tour de France, Vuelta a España and dozens of other pro races (non-disc version), is the lightest, most efficient TCR ever. Each one is handcrafted from Giant’s premium Advanced SL-grade composite. Every tube shape, junction and layup technique is strategically re-engineered to reduce weight without sacrificing stiffness.

The toptube, seattube, integrated seatpost and seatstays feature minimalistic profiles, while the PowerCore bottom bracket has each been refined to maintain the stiffness and efficiency that the TCR range is known for. The new Variant Integrated Seatpost design allowed Giant engineers to balance compliance and efficiency for a superior race-tuned ride quality.

Compact Road Design, a Giant innovation that changed the landscape of performance road bikes when it was first launched in 1997, helps give the new TCR Advanced SL Disc its agile, responsive handling. And a new Advanced SL-grade composite fork with a thru-axle design helps boosts steering stiffness. When combined with the OverDrive 2 steerer tube and MegaDrive downtube, the result is razor-sharp handling and cornering precision.

The TCR Advanced Pro Disc series is built around a handcrafted Advanced-grade composite frameset including a full composite fork and OverDrive 2 steerer tube. This series features the Variant seatpost (non-integrated) for a race-tuned feel, and many of the same core frame technologies as the TCR Advanced SL Disc series including MegaDrive, PowerCore and all-new internal cable routing.

TCR Advanced Pro Disc

Finally, the TCR Advanced Disc series features the same Advanced-grade composite frame as the TCR Advanced Pro Disc, but with a composite fork and hybrid OverDrive steerer tube.
