Eneco Tour Stage 3: Sagan Sprints To Win And Second Place Overall

Yukiya Arashiro, Martin Elmiger, Stijn Steels, Jesper Asselman and Mark McNally formed the breakaway of the day and opened a gap up of over 6 minutes in front of the Peloton.

The peloton decided it was time to take control and reel them in. They peloton timed it to perfection, overwhelming the breakaway in the final kilometres.

In the bunch sprint, World Champion and European Champion, Peter Sagan surged to the win ahead of Danny van Poppel and Nacer Bouhanni.

Sagan now trails BMC Racing Team's Dennis by just three seconds, while Team Lotto's Jos van Emden lies in third place in the general classification.

Tomorrow's Stage 4: Aalter-St. Pieters-Leeuw, flat, 199.1 km. It says flat, but there are some hills: Alsemberg (1200m at 4%) and Bruine Put (900m at 8.2%). The final hill tops at just 12.7 km before the finish and also features the golden kilometre with bonus seconds available, so a sprint is far from guaranteed.
