VIDEO: Gianni Moscon Disqualified from Worlds Championships after Team Car Tow
Italian Gianni Moscon has been disqualified from the elite men’s world championship road race in Bergen after video emerged of an extended Team Car Tow
Team Sky's Moscon, crashed with 35 kms to go video show his team car towed him back onto the back of the race and get back in contact with the lead group.
Julian Alaphilippe launched a dangerous attack the final time the peloton hit Salmon Hill, and Moscon was the only rider able to follow Frechman.
With 5 kms to go, the two riders had a gap, they were caught by the bunch and Sagan went on to win his thrid consecutive World Champioship out-sprinting Alexandre Kristoff (Norway) and Michael Matthews (Australia).
Moscon finished 29th but was stripped of his placing after the video emerged. Moscon's attack with Alaphilippe allowed the Italian team to stop contributing to the chase and as a result, his teammate Matteo Trentin sprinted to fourth place behind Sagan, Kristoff and Matthews.
Moscon was suspended by Team Sky Earlier this season for using racially abusive language direct towards another rider.
