The scheduled event is on the 9th September 2018, commencing at 8.10 a.m. starting and arriving in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi in Valdobbiadene. In the province of Treviso, in the Venetian's heart, at half way to Venice and the Dolomites. The race route is 96,4 kms with elevation gain reaching 1,550 m.
Cycling the gentle hills that makes Prosecco Cycling 2018 an event not to be missed. Any sporting enthusiast can participate and all types of bicycles including electric bikes are welcome.
On the evening of the event, a welcome reception will be held in the elegant Tenuta Villa Sandi for all participants. You are invited to taste an impressive array of authentic, regional Italian food and wine and experience a guided tour of the spectacular wineries that proudly produce one of Italy’s most prestigious wine delights: the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.
At Prosecco Cycling in 2018, the emphasis is on team cycling: the winning team’s ranking is awarded on its team work strategy and sportsmanship.
How will this be done? By taking into account the number of cyclists in a single team that can cross the finishing line within thirty seconds. In addition, the longer a team of riders cycle together during the 96km route, the greater its chances of winning. The first team announced the winner of 2018 Prosecco Cycling 2018 is awarded a trophy and 60 bottles of Prosecco wine. The next four teams in winning order will each receive in order, 54, 48, 36 and 24 bottles.
This year, moreover, the Prosecco Cycling is developing a new classification, the fun team, which will award the group (indiscriminately made of men and women, as long as cardholding with the same team) which will realize the best time on the entire course of race). The group must have been composed of at least five participants who has to pass through the finish line in 30' secs.
This new concept for Prosecco Cycling 2018 will not affect the competition or the team spirit of the event. In fact, the four uphill climbs of the route will be timed and the sum of the four times recorded for each participant will determine the final classifications, excluding the electric bikes.
The age categories will be accounted by Acsi Ciclismo. At Prosecco Cycling everyone will be a winner!
Ride Prosecco Cycling with Garda Bike Hotel
Join Garda Bike Hotel for their favourite event of the year, because it combines cycling with a gourmet experience! And, it’s a unique Gran Fondo in several ways: you are only timed on select climbing portions of the course, and not the entire route, so you can ride hard when it counts, and enjoy yourself during the rest of the ride; the roads are completely closed to traffic, and…instead of bananas at the rest stops, we eat Shrimp Scampi and drink Prosecco!
Join over 2000 cyclists for one of the highlights of the Gran Fondo cycling scene in north-east Italy. This is a brilliant Italian Gran Fondo cycling event celebrating the end of season Prosecco harvest. The start line for the Prosecco Cycling Gran Fondo is in the centre of Valdobbiadene where you will be sent off to the sound of the Nessun Dorma Aria from Turandot, with waiters waving bottles of wine at the peloton. After this dramatic departure, it’s a short climb before setting off for a fast, winding descent through the hills and prosecco vineyards of North-Eastern Italy. Very much an end of season celebration of riding and wine and food.
In 2009 they participated in this Gran Fondo for the first time: it was a spectacular event. The 2017 edition of the GF Prosecco featured a unique route that has been successfully tested over the last few years. The route was 96.4 kilometres and had a total altitude of 1550 meters.
Join us and participate in this marvellous experience!
