Froome, Nibali and Valverde to kickstart 2019 season at the Tour of Colombia

The race takes place from February 12-17 in the Antioquia region of Colombia, with former Vuelta a Espana winner Alejandro Valverde a potential rival

Four-times Tour de France champion Chris Froome will begin his 2019 campaign by riding in the 2nd edition of the Tour Colombia in February. 

The Team Sky rider won his third consecutive Grand Tour title with victory at the Giro d'Italia in May before he finished third in the Tour de France, the 33-year-old, who has been  training in Colombia, and will seek to follow Team Sky rider Egan Bernal, who won the inaugural race in his home country.

The Tour Colombia, formerly known as Colombia Oro y Paz, will have the presence of some big stars, including Team Sky's Chris Froome, EF Education First's Rigoberto Uran, and Bahrain Merida's Vincenzo Nibali.

The race also confirmed the attendance of Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana) who has chosen this race as the first one of his 2019 season.
