EF Education First Pro Cycling to race Dirty Kanza 200
EF Education First Pro Cycling announced on New Year's Day that they are not just racing the WorldTour but will be racing gravel, cyclocross and mountain bikes this year
Events highlighted are North America's Premier Gravel race Dirty Kanza 200 and the well known Leadville Trail 100 MTB ultra mountain bike race and the Three Peak's cyclocross race in the UK.
Dirty Kanza is a 200-mile gravel race where riders are challenged brutally tough gravel roads, streams, mud, strong headwinds and over 3,000m of elevation in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Race-winning times are in excess of 10 hours and it’s become notorious as one of the most challenging events in North America. In 2019 they introduced the invitation only, DKXL which is gut-wrenching 350 miles!
The Leadville 100 is Colorado's high altitude endurance MTB race. Finishers are awarded a highly prized belt buckle. In previous years’ Joe Dombrowski has taken part.
In the UK, the 61 km Three Peaks cyclocross race is one of the toughest cyclocross events in the world, it features over six kilometres of unrideable terrain over the three famous hills in the Yorkshire Dales.
Also on the agenda is the Taiwan KOM which professional riders like Phil Gaimon and Fabio Aru have ridden previously. The 100 km long race is all uphill, with over 3,000 m of climbing.
We’re coming back to @LTRaceSeries + lining up at the @DirtyKanza200 and 3 Peaks CycloCross over in the UK. We’re excited to engage with fans, ride + race new roads, and connect with a broader cycling community. We’ve got a few more tricks up our sleeve, too. ?? #exploretheworld pic.twitter.com/O6THpIdJPb— EF Education First Pro Cycling (@EFprocycling) January 1, 2019
Kit sponsor Rapha will be documenting the team’s alternate racing schedule with an exclusive series of films.
The new Canadian registered UCI Continental team Floyd’s Pro Cycling will also be racing Paris to Ancaster and are looking to take part in other mass participation events.
It's not yet been revealed who's racing what, but fans have been asking if Taylor Phinney will be racing Dirty Kanza 200!?
