Wine tasting and e-bikes: The 47mi Medio at RBC GranFondo Silicon Valley
Great news is coming out of the tech heartland, where they also happen to have world class vineyards; the brand new Medio Category has just been announced for RBC GranFondo Silicon Valley. Offering a 47 miles option compared to the GranFondo’s 71 miles, this year’s new route is full of surprises. Riders will not only experience cycling through one of the most iconic bike courses, but also it allows them to focus less on the legs and more on having fun – a great thing that has allowed this time to introduce a wine stop and to welcome e-bikes in the category.
The wine & lunch rest stop
We all know how California and its valleys are famous for their vineyards. If rolling through the Open Space Preserves of Palo Alto while overlooking the city is not enough, this will make you think twice - How does a rest stop full of wine sound? The Medio category will be exclusively stopping at Thomas Fogarty Winery for a delicious lunch – and couple of sips.
Let your legs rest
Another great thing about the Medio is that it keeps all of the awesomeness of a Gran Fondo, but takes away some of the effort when welcoming e-bikes with a non-timed experience so you can easily make that wine stop and enjoy the scenery.
If you are looking for a more competitive environment, both the GranFondo (71 miles) and the Medio (excluding e-bikes) offer a timed trial course in which you can challenge yourself and your friends.
Aside from this, the RBC GranFondo Silicon Valley includes fully supported ride with mechanics and medical aid, rider swag bag & a Jakroo performance Jersey, medals, cold beer at the end and finish line festivities for all categories.
One more thing, riders shouldn’t worry about transporting or upgrading their bikes. Sports basement will provide a large fleet of bikes to rent at their closest store, just 10 minutes away from the event.
