The event is a grueling bike ride over nine hill climbs and mountains across Napa Valley - 125 miles, 13, 500 feet of climbing, in the top 30 toughest bike rides in the USA.

The Napa9,  started by former Napa Police Officer Ken Chapman has shared, “the physical pain of what we experience on the bike pales in comparison to the emotional pain that these youth experience just about every day.”

From back to school shopping to bike rides to holiday gift giving, Ken has personally worked with many of the youth who are brought into the program. The Napa9 has become an annual opportunity to raise funds for these students.

Each year, the boutique event, produced by Ride Napa Valley, sees cyclists from the Bay Area traverse the nine peaks of Napa. From ages 21 to 61, both men and women take on this individual challenge.

This year, due to Covid-19, there will be a Zoom after party and awards ceremony. Non-cyclists can support by direct donations or the $25 back-pack item available at Napa9.com.

The Course

The route is 125 miles and boasts a whooping 13K-13.5K (depends on whose Garmin you look at) of climbing. The ride sends you up several of the steepest climbs (and down the steepest descents) in Napa Valley. Wild Horse Valley starts the day, followed by Mt. George, Atlas Peak, which is the longest climb at 8.3 miles and Soda Canyon, where the views are as spectacular as the steepness as you grind your way to the top.
