2019 World Championships awarded to Poznan – Poland
Poznan in Poland will organize the 2019 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships on a mainly flat and fast course in and around the city in the East of Poland. The event will take place from August 29th - September 1st 2019 with a time trial on Thursday, a team-relay on Friday and the Gran Fondo races on Sunday.
The Poznan Bike Challenge has been organized since 2014 with an increasing number of participants every year and is since last year part of the Gran Fondo World Series. The edition in September 2016 attracted around 6500 riders in a big bike festival.
The courses for the World Championships will still change compared to the ones being used during the Bike Challenge for both the time trial and the Gran Fondo.
The Gran Fondo will have a longer distance and the time trial will take place in one loop instead of the local loops being used for the qualifier.
The 2017 World Championships will take place in Albi, France while the 2018 World Championships haven’t been awarded yet.
