Chris Froome hints at riding 2017 Giro d’Italia ride after the route is leaked

Chris Froome hinted he might be interested in riding the 2017 Giro d'Italia after full details of this year's route were leaked ahead of the official presentation on Tuesday October 25th

The official Giro d’Italia 2017 route will be revealed by organiser RCS on Tuesday in Milan and features two individual time trials, as 39.2 km ITT on Stage 10 and a final 28km ITT on the last stage in Milan.

The route reveal could prove tempting as one of Froome's strength is his time trialling, especially making up or putting distance between himself and any rivals.

Froome tweeted on Monday night that he likesd the look of the route.

The first time trial of the Giro 2017 comes on stage 10, and outdoes both Tour time trials with its distance of 39.2km. That is then followed with a race of truth on the final day over 28km; a rare feature in recent Grand Tours that will see the fight for pink go to the very end of the race.

Froome hasn't ridden the Giro since 2010 where he was disqualified on stage 19 of the race after  holding onto a police motorbike on the Mortirolo Pass.

Will Team Sky let Froome ride both the Tour and the Giro? Probably not. Sky's strategy is the Tour de France and two Grand Tours and with the Giro before the Tour it could risk their chances and team focus.
