Nairo Quintana may ride Giro d'Italia and Tour de France Double

During a press conference at the end of the first concentration of the team ahead of the 2017 season, Movistar has confirmed that Nairo Quintana is considering to ride the upcoming Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France

"You have to try to do it before saying that it is impossible," said the Colombian. "You can't have regrets later for what you didn't try.

"Also I feel very attracted to the route of the Giro of 2017, the climbs and the return to the Stelvio, the mountain that gave me my victory in 2014. I have already shown this season that after the Tour I recovered so well that I won the Vuelta," he added.

Movistar's General Manager Eusebio Unzue added that the the chance of Quintana riding both Grand Tours is more than 50 percent. "We are still determined in riding the Tour because even if it's a hard race, we believe that one day we can get it and Nairo has it in his legs."

Even though Unzue knows that those that prepare only for the Tour have more chances than the ones that also ride the Giro, the manager has an interesting proposal. "We have to make Chris Froome go to the Giro as well. I say that also for the good of cycling, which needs that the best riders go to the Giro because it is an extraordinary race."
