Milan - San Remo Start  List and Favorites

Milan-San Remo is the perfect race for Sprinters who do not back away from the occasional climb or Puncheurs willing to risk it all

Can last year's winner Arnaud Demare succeed again at La Primavera? Milan-San Remo the opening Monument of the season that marks the start of Spring usually ends in a sprint with a peloton that's been smashed to pieces on the final climbs of the Cipressa or the Poggio.

The last rider to cross the line solo was Fabian Cancellera, however La Primavera has thrown up load of surprises whereby it's the Sprinters left in the mix at the top of Poggio, go on to take victory or will a puncheur or overall strong man like Greg Van Avermaet or Peter Sagan take the win?

Previous winners on the start list are Mark Cavendish (2009), Alexander Kristoff (2014), John Degenkolb (2015) and Arnaud Démare (2016).

Favorites apart from title defender Démare, who proved to be in great form after winning a stage and wearing Paris-Nice leaders jersey are:

Greg Van Avermaet (Omloop Het Nieuwsblad)
Peter Sagan (Brussel-Kuurne-Brussel, two stages Tirreno-Adriatico)
Fernando Gaviria (stage win Tirreno-Adriatico)
Michal Kwiatkowski (Strade Bianche)
Alexander Kristoff (l’Etoile de Bessèges, three stage wins Tour of Oman)
John Degenkolb (stage win Dubai Tour), Cavendish (stage win Abu Dhabi Tour)
CalebEwan (four stages Tour Down Under, stage win Abu Dhabi Tour)
Sonny Colbrelli (stage win Paris-Nice)
