VIDEO: Michael Valgren escapes serious injury after crash in La Flèche Wallonne
Michael Valgren from Astana crashed with 67 km to go at Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday
It was a terrible fall, the Astana rider hit his head and face, and suffered bruises to his right arm and leg. Sitting by the roadside not knowing what had happened, race officials quickly sent Valgren to hospital of the city of Huy for detailed medical examination.
He was given a full scan and had several stiches. Fortunately no other adverse affects were found and he will make a full recovery.
“Unfortunately, this heavy crash happened and it had a big impact over team’s strategy in the race. We hope, Michael will get well soon. We were lucky, he did not get too serious consequences after this fall. But, anyway, it was not the only bad luck for us in this race”, explained Lars Michaelsen from Astana
