Alberto Contador wraps up Tenerife training for Criterium du Dauphiné
Alberto Contador reflects on three weeks training at altitude with his team Trek-Segafredo ready for his big goal - the Tour de France
"Tenerife is an ideal place to work at altitude because it allows you to be fully focused on the bike, optimizing the time of training and rest. It conveys peace, tranquility and confidence for the competition", explained Contador.
Accompanied by André Cardoso, Fabio Felline and Michael Gogl, has been measuring the intensity of the training to arrive at a hundred percent at the Tour without any fatigue. "I'm being super conservative in this time, I'm thinking fully about the Tour, getting in tye best conditions not coming in with any fatigue and overtraining. This is the main difference with respect to other years," he confesses.
Contador will take part in the Criterium of the Dauphiné before the Tour de France. "If I see that I'm in good form then I'll raise my game because that's the smartest thing to do before the Tour de France " he said.
In his career, the 34-year-old has three podium finishes in the "Dauphine". Two times second and once third. Certainly he would like to get the victory in the general classification of the event, or at least check the status of his preparations against Chris Froome (Team Sky).
Contador will be deprived of his right hand man, Jarlinsona Pantano. The Colombian Trek-Segafredo rider will taking part in the Tour de Suisse.
Trek- Segafredo line up for the Criterium du Dauphine 2017:
Alberto Contador, Andre Cardoso, Edward Theuns, Fumiyuki Beppu, Haimer Zubeldia, Jesus Hernandez, Markel Irizar and Michael Gogl.
