Tom Dumoulin abandons Tour de Suisse
The Dutch Giro d'Italia champion abandoned before stage 6 on Thursday, claiming fatigue
"I was still trying to do something in the Tour de Suisse but after a few days I have clearly seen that everything in recent weeks has been too much," the Dutch champion tweeted this morning.
"We still tried to go for it at the Tour de Suisse but after a few days it became clear that it's all been a bit too much for me the last weeks."
The day, of 166.7 kilometers, runs between Locarno and the high mountain of La Punt.Dumoulin, who already lost time in the fourth stage in the ascent to Villars-sur-Ollon and ranked 26th overall, at 6:30 of the leader, the Italian Damiano Caruso, has alleged that he is very tired, according to Sunweb team, to which it belongs.
Dumoulin will take a rest period after his great triumph in Italy as his participation in the Hammer Series race a few days later.
He subsequently completed the first five stages of the Tour of Switzerland.
