Italian Giulio Ciccone wins atop Snowbird
Young Italian team rider from Bardiani CSF won the challenging Queen Stage ride from Heber Valley to Snowbird Resort. Rob Britton of Rally retains yellow jersey going into final stage in Salt Lake city
Giulio Ciccone from Bardiani CSF won Stage 6 followed by his teammate Simone Sterbini.
Two major climbs were included, most importantly the final ascent to Snowbird.
A group of 18 riders formed early on with Holoweko's Ruben Campanioni surviving the longest. Brent Bookwalter looked to stya clear of the chasing peloton to take the stage, but he too was eventually caught by the main peloton.
Bardiani CSF's high pace on the final climb was too much for many to keep up with. The final move came when Ciccone launched a powerful attack with none of the others able to stay in his wheel.
Overall leader Rob Britton of Rally finished fifth to keep his yellow jersey entering today’s final stage in Salt Lake City with a 26-second advantage over Gavin Mannion, 32 seconds ahead of Serghei Tvetcov and 35 seconds on Neilson Powless.
The Canadian remains at the top of the overall standings with only Sunday's final stage to Salt Lake City left to go.
