La Cerdanya Cycle Tour confirms the leaders of the Gran Fondo World Tour 2017 ® 

Norwegians Jonas Orset and Siv Elin Saeteren retained their leader jerseys after the tough 200km Spanish cycle race in the Pyrenees

The Catalan Pyrenees hosted over 500 participants at the La Cerdanya Cycle Tour 2017.

A sunny but cold day, cyclists completed one of three distances available, with departure and arrival in the town of Alp, in the province of Girona, near the Spanish-French border in the majestic and idyllic Pyrenees.

The Gran Fondo route consisted of 200 km and a brutal 3,690 meters of elevation, with tough climbs including Lles de Cerdanya, Coll de la Llosa and the highest point of the race at 1866 meters and the last climb, up to Collada de Toses.

Other distances catered for all abilities of cyclists; the 158km Medio Fondo  and the 120km Sport Fondo .

A photo finish decided the fastest man in the hotly contested final spint Norwegian Knut Sande taking victory ahead of Sebastien Pillon and series leader and Yellow jersey wearer Jonas Orset.

In the women's category, Norwegian Janne Smauget (center below) was the fastest, first across the line on took the top podium step.

Siv Elin Saeteren who finished 3rd on the podium remains the leader of the Gran Fondo World Tour ® 2017 after finishing third in Alp and retains the women's Pink GFWT leaders jersey (above, right and below).
