Vincenzo Nibali may skip Giro d'Italia in favour of the Tour de France
Bahrain-Merida's Vincenzo Nibali may have chosen to skip the 2018 Giro d'Italia and focus on the Tour de France
During the presentation of the 2018 Giro d'Italia, the Italian stated that he didn't know whether he was going to participate.
However, his participation looks increasingly unlikely according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Nibali will start his season in the Vuelta a San Juan in Argentina and the first half of his season will include races like Liege-Bastogne-Liege and the Criterium du Dauphine.
Even though the Italian rider has in the past said that he would like to win the 'Corsa Rosa' for the third time, he will first try to take his second victory at the Tour de France in 2018, a year in which one the biggest candidates, Chris Froome, will first be riding the Italian race.
Nibali has confirmed he'll ride the 2018 Vuelta a España with the main objective of maintaining his form ahead of the World Championships Road Race, which has a route that suits his style of climbing.
