Inaugural Farm To Fork Fondo - Garden State Caps 2018 Season

Hundreds of cyclists to celebrate farms, food, and landscapes in New Jersey's rural Pine Barrens community

Wrenegade Sports is excited to announce their full 2018 Farm to Fork Fondo season schedule, comprised of 8 events including the newest in the series Garden State on October 13 & 14, 2018. Farm to Fork Fondo - Garden State will be hosted by Whitesbog Historic Village, a working cranberry bog in Browns Mills, NJ, and birthplace of the modern blueberry. The event is organized by Wrenegade Sports and will highlight and benefit the historic village and farm, overseen by Whitesbog Preservation Trust, and New Jersey's rural Pine Barrens community.

"We're very excited to bring the Farm to Fork Fondo series to Whitesbog Village and the Garden State," said Wrenegade Sports founder and former professional cyclist Tyler Wren. "We strive to create unique events and combining the rural landscapes of the Pine Barrens with visits to the area's diverse farms including cranberry bogs and blueberry farms will truly be a special experience."

Inaugural Farm To Fork Fondo - Garden State Caps 2018 Season

Farm to Fork Fondo - Garden State is an organized bicycle ride where participants get to choose the distance best for them and stop for chef-prepared bites at farms along the way. Course options for all abilities will range from 10 to 100 miles. Following the ride will be a catered farm-to-table barbecue and festival featuring live music and local vendors. Participants can expect flat to rolling terrain in the Pine Barrens.

Whitesbog Village will serve as the start-finish venue for the rides and festival on October 14, and host a pre-ride ‘Meet the Farmers Dinner’ on October 13.  "Whitesbog Historic Village is so excited to partner with Wrenegade Sports to host this event and highlight the wonderful farms and the beauty of this rich ecological, cultural, historic and agricultural area in the New Jersey Pine Barrens," said Allison Pierson, Executive Director of Whitesbog Historic Trust.

Additional featured farms and local partners for Farm to Fork Fondo - Garden State will be announced in coming months.

About Whitesbog Historic Village

Whitesbog Village is an early 20th-century company town and agricultural community. In the early 1900s, Whitesbog was the largest cranberry farm in New Jersey, and its founder, Joseph J. White, was a nationally recognized leader in the cranberry industry. Aside from its immense success with cranberries, Whitesbog is also where the highbush blueberry was first successfully cultivated.

Today, Whitesbog is part of Brendan T. Byrne State Forest and is listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Sites.  Whitesbog includes the village and the surrounding 3,000 acres of cranberry bogs, blueberry fields, reservoirs, sugar sand roads, and Pine Barrens forests.
