Tim Wellens Wins Stage 4 and takes Race Lead

Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal ) won the fourth stage of the Ruta del Sol, he the fastest on the final cobbled climb

The 194.7 kilometre stage from Sevilla and Alcala de los Gazules included one second-category and one of the third category climb .

The final breakaway of the day was Andrey Amador (Movistar) and Sep Vanmarcke (EF Education First-Drapac), but they were caught on the last climb with just 3 kms to go.

Wellens attacked before the cobbled streets with Mikel Landa (Movistar) following and a 12 second lead on Astana's Jakob Fuglsang.

Previous race leader Wout Poels (Sky) finished fourth position and fell to  third position on the General Classification behind Wellens and Landa.

The Lotto-Soudal rider will have to defend his jersey in the last stage, an Individual Time Trial of 14.2 kilometres in Barbate on Sunday.
