Bathurst Cycling Classic scored another participants' record

The weather was perfect for cycling with temperatures around 22 degrees and a lot of participants, both competitive and fun riders, joined the cycling classic with start in Blayney and finish 70km (short course) or 110km (long course) further in Bathurst

The weekend started on Saturday with the hill climb, a short 4.2km mountain time trial with finish on top of Mount Panorama. 200 riders signed up to qualify with Michael Potter (30.2 km/h average) scoring the fastest overall time to win his 19-34 age group before Ben Dyball and Cameron Roberts, all from the youngest age group.

Fastest female was Katie Banerjee (F45-49), seconds ahead of Simone Grounds (F40-44) and Renee Everett (F19-34) to take the overall win in an average speed of 23.5km/h.

The Road Race on Sunday received 1836 participants for a 110 or 70km event. Starts were given in waves with the overall fastest time for John Peppard (M45-49) who outsprinted Mitch Dixon and Sean Brunt in the 110km qualifying distance.

All females started together in one wave with Georgia Whitehouse (F19-34) winning the sprint before Gina Ricardo (F19-34) and time trial winner Katie Banerjee who won her 45-49 age group.

The event grew above 2000 participants which was again a new record.
