BMC dominate Tour de Suisse as Richie Porte wins Overall

Richie Porte confirms his good form, just three weeks ahead of the Tour de France, as BMC Racing teammate Stefan Küng wins final individual time trial

It was a double blow by BMC on the final stage 9 of the Tour de Suisse.

The American team won the final stage of the Tour de Suisse thanks to Stefan Küng and the overall classification with Richie Porte. Bearer of the first leader's jersey of the competition afterthe BMC Racing team dominated the collective time trial of the first stage, the young Swiss rider finished his national time trial event in style.  He was the only rider to be under 40 minutes.

It was beautiful day for BMC, magnified by a third place of Tejay van Garderen, disappointing in the mountains, but on fire in the final time trial on Sunday.

Stefan Küng was fastest with a time of 39'44 ". Soren Kragh Andersen (Sunweb) and Tejay van Garderen (BMC) completed the podium 19 and 23 seconds respectively. 

Already winner of the sixth stage from the breakaway, Soren Kragh Andersen (Sunweb) confirmed his current good form and took second place in the epilogue of this Tour de Suisse. The 23-year-old from Denmark proves once again that he knows how to do everything by finishing 19 seconds behind Küng.

Jakob Fuglsang (Astana) was among the competitors in the overall standings and is doing the excellent day's riding. Sixth at the start of the time trial, the Dane climbed to second place in the final standings. He finished in 8th place, 38 seconds behind the winner.

Nairo Quintana (Movistar) lost a place in the general standings, but kept his podium and finished third.

On the contrary, Wilco Kelderman (Sunweb) was disappointed on the 34.1 kilometers around Bellinzona, he finished 27th in the stage at 1'33 " behind the winner. The Dutchman lost his place on the podium and was surpassed in the GC by Enric Mas (Quick-Step). He finished in fifth place while the young Spaniard finished fourth, with the best young jersey on his shoulders.

In the race for thejerseys, world champion Peter Sagan (Bora) wons the Tour de Suisse points classification jersey for the seventh time, a new record.

Mark Christian (Aqua Blue) won the king of the Mountains Jersey.
