American Superhero Lawson Craddock fights on despite fractured shoulder
Craddock crashed badly in the feed zone during Stage 1, got back on his bike and raced the last 100 kms with a fractured shoulder
Lawson Craddock (EF - Drapac) ran into some bad luck on stage 1 of the Tour. The American wearing unlucky number 13, crashed badly at the feedstation half way through the opening 200 km stage.
Craddock dropped back to the team car and got medical treatment as his team encouraged to carry on. Bleeding from a bad cut to the head and a ripped jersey Craddock fought back and hung at the back of the peloton for the remaining 100 kms.
He went on to finish the stage 1 dead last, 7 minutes and 50 seconds behind the leaders. Craddock said “We’ll have to see how I feel tonight and maybe get on the bike in the morning just to give it a feel.”
Craddock Fights On
Tests conducted in the evening revealed a broken line on the scapula . This injury usually requires rest, but the American Superhero Craddock decided to fight on.
He will go beyond the pain. It remains to be seen how long he will be able to continue given his physical state.
Craddocks vows to donate for every stage finish
Also note that Lawson Craddock decided since last night to donate $ 100 per completed stage . The total amount raised will be donated to the Houston-based Alkek Velodrome, which helps the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
