Team Sunweb Unveil Vuelta A España Line-up

Team Sunweb are pleased to unveil their line-up for the final grand tour of the season, la Vuelta a España

After successful campaigns in Italy and France, Team Sunweb head to Spain with their main focus on the sprints with the young german powerhouse Phil Bauhaus.

Unable to start the Tour de France due to injury, the Vuelta marks Wilco Kelderman’s (NED) first race back after re-injuring his shoulder at the Dutch national championships. The 27-year-old starts the race following a good period of recovery and training, but with no recent racing in his books the team applies a day-to-day approach to explore GC possibilities.

Team Sunweb coach Aike Visbeek (NED): “Phil will be our sprinter at the Vuelta whilst we aim for a result in the sprints. We’re very pleased to have Wilco at the start, which could be considered a small miracle after another difficult period with recovering from a complicated injury. He has worked hard to come back, but we don’t know how stable his level will be throughout the three weeks of racing. We’ll have to take a day by day approach with the aim to keep him in the GC and see where he stands going into the third week. We’re also excited to have three riders making their grand tour debut with Jai, Michael and Martijn. Heading to Spain will be great for their long-term development and we’re looking forward to seeing what they do with the opportunity.”
