Alaphilippe snatches race lead from Gaviria

19 year old Men's Junior World Time Trial Champion Remco Evenepoel was at one point the fastest, but was overhauled by his Quick-Step teammate in the final stages of the flat, fast 12 km time trial.

Italian Valerio Conti (UAE) came in second fastest and moved up to 3rd place overall.

Remco Evenepoel's effort was good enough for him to move into fourth overall.

Fernando Gaviria lost only 18 seconds to Alaphilippe and sits in 2nd place overall.

Peter Sagan put in a solid effort, finishing in 7th place and sits in 7th place overall.

Tomorrow's 185.5 km stage from San José de Jáchal to Villa San Agustin features a big climb halfway through, and a long descent to the finish.

The stage could see a breakaway or attacks from the GC contenders take over the race lead.
