Colbrelli out-sprints Van Avermaet to win stage 4 at the Tour of Oman
Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida) sprinted to victory on Tuesday after a hard-fought stage 4 of the Tour of Oman
The Italian snatched his first win of the season ahead of Greg Van Avermaet (CCC) and Clément Venturini (AG2R La Mondiale) after the early attackers were caught by a reduced bunch inside the final kilometre.
Astana’s Alexey Lutsenko retains the red jersey on the eve of the Queen stage with the summit finish at the Green Mountain on Wednesday.
“I’m very happy. I was looking for the victory and it arrived,” Colbrelli said. “My thanks go to all my teammates who have given me a lot of help all day long. I knew the last kilometer and I started sprinting at the right time. It was all perfect.”
