Bookwalter and Mitchelton-Scott take opening team time trial victory at Tirreno-Adriatico

Mitchelton-Scott deny Jumbo-Visma at the last minute with strongest team time trial and avoid running over Pooch!

Mitchelton-Scott claimed victory in the opening team time trial at Tirreno-Adriatico, despite having to avert their course due to a another spectator running into the road

The Australian team finished in 22:25 to beat Jumbo-Visma by seven seconds.

Michael Hepburn led the team across the line to take the race lead over Brent Bookwalter, Luke Durbridge, and Adam Yates.

The incident wasnt the only one, rain-soaked and treacherous, turned disastrous for Bora-Hansgrohe when a pedestrian crossing the course at a marked crosswalk stepped directly in front of the oncoming riders. The first riders swerved to avoid the man, but Rafal Majka plowed into him, taking down Oscar Gatto who was directly behind him.
