Gran Fondo Nice Côte d'Azur presented by Nice Matin opens the European stage of the 2019 Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series
Davide Rebellin and Nicolas Roche (Team Sunweb) led a strong peloton of French cycling representatives

One thousand cyclists participated in the second edition of Gran Fondo Nice, and doubled the participants from the first edition in 2018.
With excellent weather conditions, everyone enjoyed a neutralized segment starting from the Nice Matin Journal Headquarters, host and main sponsor of the event.
The event had two routes, the longer one Named Culture Velo, 129 km and 2,500 vertical meters of ascent with 3 well marked “cols”, the short one by DTSwiss was 101 km and 1,830 vertical meters of ascent, and was completed in less than 3 hours by a top ranked, selected peloton containing pro cyclist as Nicolas Roche, Team Giant and former professional cyclist Davide Renbellin, who pushed very hard to break the peloton after the very first climb.

Top 3 final positions for long route was: Annabelle Dietre, womens winner followed by Lawrence Reviglio and Beatrice Richard. In the men’s category, Antoine Berlin was the winner, followed by Cedric Dubois and Luca Fioretti. (there was 1,100 GFWT points for winners in both categories and 750 GFWT points for winners of shorter route).
After the french stage of the Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series, Annabel Dietre took the lead position with same points of the pro Triathlete Cèline Scharer (winner in Epic Gran Canaria) and Stephane Cognet for the men took the lead position, entering in close battle with Jonas Orset and Davide Rebellin, who completed Epic Gran Canaria to appear on the overall series ranking.
