Alberto Contador at Tour Des Stations Start Line!

For its second edition on Saturday the 10th of August, the Tour des Stations will welcome the famous Spanish former professional, who won the Tour de France in Verbier in 2009

Winner of the three "Grand Tours" (Giro d'Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta of Spain), Alberto Contador is considered as one of the best climbers of last decades. Retired from the professional world since 2017, he will find a playground at the height of his reputation. On the roads of the Valais, he will tackle the hardest race in the world in height difference by kilometre (220km and 7'400m D +) between Martigny and Verbier.

The arrival in Verbier will allow him to remember the good memories of his victory in this station at the 15th stage of the Tour de France 2009. It also allowed him to take the yellow jersey to finally win a few days later in Paris his second Tour de France. 10 years after this victory, a ceremony will be organized in Verbier on Saturday afternoon.

As a reminder, the Tour des Stations welcomed in 2018 for its first edition nearly 2,000 participants. Going through 16 tourist destinations. 5 races (220km, 140km, 50km, 10km and 8km) are proposed, including Marmotte Granfondo Valais between Crans-Montana and Verbier (140km and 4'700m D +).
