Asgreen takes over Suisse race lead as Sanchez steals 2nd stage

Spanish pro Luis Leon Sanchez of Astana won a hilly stage two of the Tour de Suisse while Denmark's Kasper Asgreen took over the race lead

While Astana's Danish captain Jakob Fuglsang won the Criterium du Dauphine in France, Sanchez was busy winning a stage for Astana in Switzerland.

with 10 kms to go Sanchez attacked out of a reduced field, while three times world champion Peter Sagan sprinted across the line at the helm of the a reduced peloton for second.

The 159.6 km second stage was contested over three circuits which featured two mountain passes.

Asgreen rides for Deceuninck-Quick Step and is rising through the ranks, having finished second at the Tour of Flanders and third at the Tour of California this season.

Asgreen is now the overall race leader and leader of the best young rider.

35-year-old Sanchez attacked, not wanting to contest a sprint finish, he managed to hang onto to his gap until the closing metres.

Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas is currenty in seventh place, 18 seconds behind and is favorite to win overall.
