WATCH: Service Motorbike caused Primoz Roglic Gravel at the Vuelta
Video has emerged of Primoz Roglic crashing on the gravel descent during a chaotic Stage 9 of the La Vuelta
The Jumbo-Visma rider hit a neutral service motorbike that has slowed due to the hail and gravel roads. With their help, he quickly re-mounted and still managed to finish third, just 48 seconds down on stage winner Nairo Quintana.
“It was very chaotic at one point,” said sports director Addy Engels. “Not only because of the gravel but also because of the bad weather conditions. Primoz crashed on the gravel due to a stationary motorbike. That is not okay and should not happen. All in all, I think that, given the situation at one point, we have done some good business GC-wise. We are in a good position before Tuesday’s time trial. Although we will never know what would have been possible without that crash."
