DAY 1- OCTOBER 14
Stage: Elpidio - Rimini

Ride: Rimini - Rimini  (40km-)
Sleep:  Rimini

Welcome to Italy! You will be met by one of our friendly team and travel to our hotel in Rimini. With spectacular views, this is a stunning place to start your tour of a cycling lifetime. On arrival our tour manager will assist you with checking into the hotel, once the bikes are organised and assembled by our world-class mechanics, we invite you to join us for your first ride of the holiday. A ride from the hotel takes us along the Adriatic coast. Here you will view the final moments of today’s stage- straight into the heart of the action. The ride back to the hotel is optional and those not wishing to ride can hop in the van. This evening, dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant before drinks in the centre of town for those that choose to.

DAY 2- OCTOBER 15
Stage: Cesenatico - Cesenatico

Ride: Rimini - Cesenatico  (80km-)

After a sumptuous breakfast we hop on the bikes and ride  towards Cesenatico, the birthplace of Marco Pantani. Today’s stage is a celebration of the gran fondo; Nove Colli (nine hills) and is sure to ignite the race. Our ride to one of the last climbs of the day once again allows you to experience the thrill of viewing this epic race. The smell of the bbqs, the passion of the Italian tifosi and legend of Marco Pantani. This stage has it all. After the stage we will enjoy the Pantani museum and visit his mother’s piadineria for a bite to eat before heading back to the Rimini.

DAY 3 - OCTOBER 16
Stage: Cervia – Monselice

Stage View: Start Finish
Ride: Ferrera – Monselice  (60km-)
Sleep:  Conegliano

This morning we leave the beautiful Adriatic coast and head north to stunning Ferrera. On the outskirts of the town your bikes will be ready, and waiting having been checked over by our mechanics. Alberto will lead a ride through the city and stopping for the must have photo by the Castle. The ride will continue to Monselice, here you will see the view the finish today’s stage near. A journey north continues with a shuttle to the Conegliano and our hotel in the Prosecco region. This evening’s dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant, and with views over-looking endless vineyards you can relax in the knowledge that we will be staying here for three nights.

DAY 4 - OCTOBER 17
Stage: Conegliano  - Valdobbiadene

Stage View: Start Finish and Finish.
Ride:  Conegliano  – Valdobbiadene  (45km-)
Sleep:  Conegliano

Great news! You have woken up surrounded by vineyards in the middle of the land of Prosecco. It was a great decision to book this holiday. Now today’s stage is the second ITT of the Giro d’Italia 2020. A chance to see the riders tearing through the rolling hills of Prosecco on their time-trial bikes. Your ride today takes you on the same course and allows you to visit the start and finish line. Your guides will give you all the insight into technique, and what tactics the riders will use during the stage. One of the many advantages of an ex-pro guide, is that they can give you a unique insight into the peloton, and who knows Daniele may even introduce you to ex-teammate Peter Sagan!

DAY 5 - OCTOBER 18
Stage: Rivolto - Piancavallo

Stage View: Last Climb
Ride: Conegliano  – Piancavallo  (60km-)
Sleep:  Conegliano

After a good breakfast we head out once again into Prosecco paradie on a ride that takes us up the last climb of today’s stage. There really is nothing like climbing on the same road as the pros. Expect a party atmosphere, as the Italian tifosi cheer you on and as is customary with our clients, hand you a glass of wine. Why’s is it always our clients?! After the race passes you will take the descent to the waiting vans before the short transfer back to the hotel. Keener riders may wish to race the van back. Dinner will be served in Marco’s favourite trattoria nestled in the heart of the Prosecco region.

DAY 6 - OCTOBER 19
Stage: Rest Day

Sleep: Madonna di Campiglio  

A rest day for the riders and also a rest day for IBT clients as we pack the bikes away put on some non-lycra and head to Riva del Garda. Lake Garda is a jewel in the crown of Northern Italy, and on arrival we push the pause button allowing you time to explore the town, find a restaurant for lunch and maybe even hop on a boat. A chance to put your stamp on the holiday. After lunch we will then head over to Madonna di Campiglio   and our hotel for the next two days. Tonight, you are free to enjoy the town, festivities and all that is great about holiday in Italia.  

DAY 7 - OCTOBER 20
Stage: Udine - San Daniele del Friuli

Ride: Madonna di Campiglio - Passo Tonale (65km-)
Sleep:  Madonna di Campiglio 

Our ride this morning starts with a descent towards Val di Sole. The valley of Sun is famous for great weather and apples! Our ride this morning along the valley and then up to Passo Tonale. This is an epic climb and reaching the summit at Passo Tonale is to be applauded, and rest assured, staff will be on hand to take photos and pass you a welcome hot chocolate. Those that wish, can descend before taking the climb up to the hotel. More sensible clients can hop in the van and take the ride back! The hotel is in the heart of the action, and the night before the Giro comes to town (Notte Rossa) is thrilling. Dinner served in Hotel.

DAY 8 - OCTOBER 21
Stage: Bassano del Grappa - Madonna di Campiglio

Ride: Madonna di Campiglio - Passo Gavia (70km - )
Sleep: Bormio

There is nothing quite like waking up in the Alps when the Giro hits town. Today you will be the envy of the cycling world as you enjoy a great day of riding and hospitality over- looking the finish line. We are the only operator that offers this unique experience for clients, a real highlight for first timers to the Giro and those more seasoned travellers. After breakfast we will once again descend before tackling the Passo Gavia. This epic mountain is a favourite of our staff. Epic, brutal at times and utterly inspiring. Our team will be on hand to support you before those that wish jump in the van back to Madonna Campiglio do so, and the real enthusiasts ride back to the hotel. After a warm shower, you will have some free time before we distribute VIP passes and get ready for some complimentary prosecco, nibbles (Italian style) and epic viewing of the final stages of the race. Post stage you will have some free time before we transfer over to Bormio.

DAY 9 - OCTOBER 22
Stage: Pinzolo – Lago di Cancano

Ride: Passo Stelvio & Lago Cancano (70km - )

Our reputation has been built on attention to detail when planning tours as well as staff that will do what is necessary in the pursuit of excellence. Today is one of those days when you will be grateful you chose Italy Bike Tours. After an early breakfast, those that wish to will join a Sunrise Stelvio ride. The Stelvio is everything that you can imagine and more, however, it is in the early morning when its sheer magnificence is felt most. Those that choose to join us will enjoy a hot chocolate at the summit before descending and joining the ‘other’ riders for the climb to Lago Cancano. Here we will watch the riders up close and personal, on the climb for what promises to be one of the most important stages in Giro 2020. Our dinner this evening will be served in our favourite restaurant in the Alps. It is so special that we can only tell those that book where we are going! It’s top top secret.

DAY 10 - OCTOBER 23
Stage: Morbegno - Asti

Ride: Lake Como (90km - )
Sleep: Val di Susa

It’s always sad to leave Bormio, a place you are sure to want to visit again, however, the Giro d’Italia waits for no man. Onwards we go to enjoy the festivities of a stage start in Morbegno. A chance to get up close and personal to the riders, get obligatory selfies and cheer on your favourites. After we have seen the roll out, we hop on the bikes and take a stunning ride around the west of Lake Como, hugging the lakeside as we do before finishing in Como. Famous for its Italian style, great food and George Clooney! On arrival in Lake Como we will watch the stage finish in our great friend Allesandro’s Sartorial Cicliste Café. You will have free time in Lake Como post ride to explore the town before we head to Val di Susa and our next destination nestled in the foothills of the Piemonte Alps.

DAY 11 - OCTOBER 24
Stage: Alba - Sestriere

Ride: Val di Susa - Sestriere  (60km - )

A leisurely breakfast and time to stroll around the town before once again we take an epic ride to Sestriere . Today is going to be one of the great stages in the Giro d’Italia history and you will be there to witness the crucial moments in our organised hospitality in Sestriere . One of the advantages of being based in Italy is that we ‘know people’ – this is the Italian way of working! And we have worked with our friends in the mayoral office of Sestriere  to ensure you have a great viewing point, showers and a fantastic lunch. All part of the service. Surely the winner of today’s stage will win the overall GC? Or maybe not as it is the Milan TT that so many cycling fans are excited about. Tonight, we enjoy dinner in a Pizzeria, I mean you can’t come to Italy without a pizza, right?

DAY 12 - OCTOBER 25
Stage: Cernusco di Naviglio - Milan

Sleep: Vimercate (Milano)

A change of scenery, as after breakfast we leave the Alps and head to the fashion capital of the world; Milano. There will be no riding today so you can put some comfy shoes on and slip into spectator mode. Our team will drop you in the city centre, on arrival we have organised a very special surprise for you before you have some free time to enjoy the stage. Those that wish to buy hospitality from us can do so at a discounted rate. No doubt you will want to see the presentation of the pink jersey. Our final destination and dinner will be served by our friends at Hotel Cosmo Vimercate. A great place to give awards, exchange numbers and reflect on an epic experience of following the Giro d’Italia 2020.

Sadly, it is time to say goodbye, but wait we have one more surprise for you! This morning we will visit the finest manufacturer of bikes in Italy. Passoni is the Ferrari of the bike world and our friend Matteo the owner has offered a personal invitation to Italy Bike Tours clients to visit the factory to see how they make these beautiful titanium bikes a chance not to be missed. Transfers to follow in the late morning.

DAY 1- OCTOBER 20

Welcome to Italy! You will be meet but one of our friendly team at Verona Airport or Verona train station. You will then be transferred via Lake Garda to our hotel in  stunning Madonna Campiglio. With spectacular views over the Alps this is stunning place to start your tour of a cycling lifetime. On arrival our tour manager will assist you with checking in to the hotel, once bikes are organised and assembled by our world-class mechanics we invite you to join us for your first ride of the week. Starting with a sumptuous descent before enjoying a climb to Passo Tonale at 2000m, as with all our ride days we will also offer an easier option for those wishing too take life a little easier. This evening dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant before drinks in the center of town.

DAY 2- OCTOBER 21

Welcome to Italy! You will be meet one of our friendly team at Torino airport or Torino train station. You will then be transferred the short distance to our hotel in Val di Susa. With spectacular views over the Alps this is a stunning place to start your Giro weekend. On arrival our tour manager will assist you with checking in to the hotel, once the bikes are organised and assembled by our world-class mechanics, we invite you to join us for your first ride of the weekend. The ride takes you along Val di Susa. We will time the ride to coincide with watching the stage finish in a local bar. Dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant.

DAY 2 - OCTOBER 24
