2021 Gran Fondo World Tour ® Expands to 20 events across 4 Continents
The Gran Fondo World Tour® expands to 17 events, plus 3 NEW virtual events as it signs a partner agreement with virtual racing platform Rouvy. New virtual events offer series points for cyclists to participate from home that count towards the 2021 Gran Fondo Virtual World Championships® that will be "live streamed" with commentary on Gran Fondo Guide
The Gran Fondo World Tour (GFWT®) is aware that there is uncertainly early on in the 2021 season calendar post COVID, as countries gear up to roll out vaccines.
Understanding this predicament, the GFWT® has expanded the number events including virtual events on the 2021 calendar, realising that International air travel will be restricted for some time too.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the GFWT® has been able to continue operating globally with a bold digital transformation.
Dani Buyo, CEO-Founder of Gran Fondo World Tour ® commented, "We are working very hard to provide to our clients and community members more tools to keep motivated and involved in the series. Digital transformation will be the next big challenge for cyclists around the world to enter into the new eSPORTS era."
He continued, “We are introducing a new Endurance GFWT® Series consisting of longer distance events for long distance Gran Fondo fanatics. We are working hard to include even more events in the coming months with longer distance Gran Fondo event and also a new addition of Gravel Fondo events to offer more options of our growing community of over 60,000 cyclists worldwide"
Gran Fondo World Tour® Series ranking is open to all cyclists, regardless of ability.
Become a GFWT Member for FREE and complete one event, it’s that easy.
Once a participant finishes one event, they enter the series ranking, with the one man and woman receiving a leader’s jersey after each event.
Each month, a random ranking number will be drawn and that rider will receive a GFWT gift!
NEW 2021 Gran Fondo Virtual World Championship®
For 2021, there will be the NEW Gran Fondo Virtual World Championship®, there is no qualification to participate just two semi-final virtual heats. Direct entry is FREE and will take place in November, this event will be organized by the GFWT®.
The NEW Endurance Cycling World Series will have a separate overall ranking, but points will also count towards the GFWT® series ranking.
Taking Coronavirus into consideration, the next in-person Gran Fondo World Championship® will be in 2022 at the Seorak Gran Fondo in South Korea.
