Distances: 3 or 6 days

Come join us for a springtime cycling adventure that features six days of riding in beautiful North Florida and South Georgia. The six-day Safari is limited to 250 riders. For those who cannot do the full six days, we do offer a three-day option. Though the three-day riders only get half the full Safari experience, it is still loaded with rides, activities, and entertainment to bring joy to your cycling life.

The first two days will be based at the Suwannee County Fairgrounds in Live Oak, Florida. Different routes will be offered each day with several mileage options, including a century on Sunday. Monday, while the three-day cyclists loop back to Live Oak, six-day riders will head north past the town of Madison. The Safari will camp at the Cherry Lake campground for three nights. The Cherry Lake campground is majestically located just off a scenic lake that offers all the serenity and tranquility before and after every ride. A different route will be featured each day, again with several mileage options, and will include a century on Tuesday.

Each day will start with a buffet style breakfast with eggs or pancakes, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, cereal, muffins, bagels, juice and coffee. On the rides, there will be sag stops with all the goodies to keep you hydrated and fueled. Dinners will also be buffet style with something for everybody, meat eaters and vegans alike. On Sunday and Wednesday, we will have fresh corn-on-the-cob, live music, and refreshments in the afternoon.

Take a look at that, the Florida Bicycle Safari is turning 38 years old. Where has the time gone? Each year this springtime cycling tour lives up to its expectations and leaves its attendees wanting for more. Well, the 38th will not be any different and will definitely deliver.

As usual, there will be after-ride refreshments, games, and live entertainment.  And just when you thought there is nothing more to add to an already packed itinerary, get ready to be appreciated if you are a Safari veteran. This year, we will incorporate special prizes when attendees present t-shirts and jerseys from a specific year of the Safari. So, if you have racked up on Safari jerseys and t-shirts over the years, plan on packing them. Hint, hint, I would keep the factors of 5 in mind, as in a jersey from 5 years ago or a t-shirt from 10 years ago and so on.

Besides boiled corn dipped in whatever flavor that suits your taste buds, the Dixie-Grill will once again be catering all breakfasts and dinners, with a special treat of a meal on the 5th day. I get hungry just thinking about it. This year, they will be expanding options for all our vegans and vegetarians.

Each day will start with a buffet breakfast with eggs, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, cereal, muffins, bagels, juice and coffee. On the rides, there will be sag stops with all the goodies to keep you hydrated and fueled. Dinners will be buffet style with something for everybody. On Sunday and Wednesday we will have fresh corn on the cob and live music in the afternoon.

We also have some fun things to amuse you in the afternoons. Leslie is returning with the Amazing Race and Cirque du Safari. Sarah is returning with So You Think You Can Dance.

Maps/Cue sheets of the routes will be provided at check-in and all routes will be clearly marked. There will be a mechanic on site and on the route to keep you riding. The luggage for the six-day riders will be transported by Safari trucks.

Registration fees include camping facilities and meals. For those on the six-day Safari who would rather not "rough it", a limited number of primitive dormitory-style cabins are available at Cherry Lake for the last three days for an additional fee on a first-come, first-served basis. There is also a female only dorm available at Cherry Lake with AC and showers for an additional fee.

Beginning with breakfast on Saturday all breakfasts and dinners will be catered by the Dixie Grill. Lunches will be provided in Cherry Lake.

Hotels are located within 15 miles, but are not included in the registration fee.
