The Challenge for Charity at the Battle on the Border is a day of the best cycling in the best locations. Set against the magnificent backdrop of the Tweed region, cyclists ride through breathtaking valleys, untouched beaches and climb challenging mountains.  The Battle on the Border includes something for every cyclist, from the social enthusiastic rider to the competitive cyclist looking to move to the next stage.  The Tweed area offers a great cycling region as well as great cuisine, national parks and  spectacular sites. From the Tyalgum in the western valley, the high vistas of the Burringbar range, the plug of the volcano, to interacting with the local communities, all creating an experience not to be forgotten.

Now in its 8th year, the Battle of the Border has grown to hundreds of recreational and seasoned competitive cyclists.  The festival courses range from 200km to 400km, crossing challenging terrain and highlighting the beautifully unique volcanic caldera environment.

The Battle is a wonderful event for the cycling elite to bring their friends and families to support them over the four day festival and explore all that the region has to offer.

The Battle on the Border Cycling Festival is a combination of a competitive racing tour and social riding (Fondo) events.

The Battle’s flagship Racing Tour is a multi-stage, multi-division race from 28-31 May that extends across the cycling disciplines: individual time trial, criterium and road racing.   The Tour offers a unique athletic and environmental experience for men, women, and juniors, varying from difficult mountainous climbs to endurance distance courses.

At the highest level is a five stage NRS men’s tour.  The remaining divisions compete in a four stage tour open to all members of Cycling Australia.

The Fondo Rides on 31 May is a mass participation event which caters to everyone who enjoys a pedal. The three courses available - 53km, 114km, 152km - vary in degrees of difficulty and are designed to encourage everyone to participate, from the beginner to the serious cyclist.  Above all, this is a non-competitive bike ride celebrating cycling and the atmosphere of the Battle.

Conquer your bucket list and climb Mt Warning!  Experience this ‘must-do’ cycle that kicks off the Battle’s program on Thursday, 28 May.  A gruelling climb up the volcano will reward you with stories and bragging rights for a lifetime.
