Dirty Kanza Training Camp

Dirty Kanza Training Camp

March 30 - April 02 2017
Emporia, Kansas, USA

Camp is back and better than ever! There is no better opportunity to prepare your mind, body, and machine for the rigors of the Dirty Kanza then at our camp. You will of course have ample opportunity to ride your bike. Testing your rig and your legs on many miles of prime Dirty Kanza real estate. But, fitness alone will not propel you to the finish line. A strong mental fortitude and sound preparation are vital for DK success. That’s why the biggest value of our training camp lies in the wealth of knowledge you will gain from our industry experts and Dirty Kanza veterans that will be on hand to give you all the secrets to besting the Kansas gravel….and heat….and wind!

Over the course of four days you will have an opportunity to learn from the best on bike setup and nutrition. And did we mention riding your bikes? Nothing helps motivate a person to get in much needed training like riding with a group of like minded gravel enthusiasts. There’s no way around it, in order to finish the DK it takes a fair amount of riding your bike, so big miles will be on the agenda for three straight days.

Thursday, March 31
Once you’ve arrived in town and settled into your accommodations, visit us at the Dirty Kanza Head Quarters to get signed in. We will have our first group dinner at the historic Granada Theatre in downtown Emporia. We will spend this time getting to know one another and learning the goals of each individual. After dinner, we will be treated to a presentation on nutrition and training by none other then reigning Dirty Kanza Champion and GU Marketing Manager, Yuri Hauswald, The Queen of Pain, Rebecca Rusch and 4x King of Kanza, Dan Hughes.

Friday, April 1
After arriving at DKHQ to your finely tuned bike, we will have a brief coach’s talk before heading out to get our first taste of Flint HIlls
gravel. Today’s ride will be 35/50 (DK100/DK200) miles. This will be a great time to shake out the ‘travel legs’ and test your equipment. Upon returning to DKHQ, we will have regional favorite, Bobby D’s BBQ prepared for lunch. Following lunch will be our top notch mechanics presentation. Everyone will learn a thing or two and all will go home with a chainbreaker tool! We will cap the day off with dinner at Radius Brewing Co.

Saturday, April 2
Today we go big! Again, following a brief coach’s talk, we will depart for a long foray into the flint rock. DK100 campers will complete a 75 mile ride, while DK200 riders will experience a 100 mile loop. Both rides will have a half way aid station. Catered dinner and presentation to follow. We’ll let you pack in early for a well deserved good night’s rest!

Sunday, April 3
One final ride to cap off a great weekend of riding, dining, and learning. 2 rides will be on offer of 25 and 45 miles. After the ride we will say our farewells and eagerly look forward to seeing everyone back in Emporia in June for the Dirty Kanza!
