GFLF is an Italian style granfondo that departs from San José to La Fortuna for a 160+ kms ride through Costa Rica arriving at the foot of Arenal Volcano. The event is an annual, Italian-style ride, from the capital San José to La Fortuna city in the northern plains of Costa Rica, right beside the Arenal Volcano. Athletes will take on a challenging 160+ kilometer course to compete against each other, the clock, the parcours, the climate conditions and, of course, themselves in a personal endurance challenge on a road bike.

Along the course the participants will find:

3000+ meters of ascent.
Elevation: Max: 1,612 meters, min. 100 meters.
6 cities covering the “old road” to San Ramón of Alajuela and 4 more in the northern plains to La Fortuna.
Temperature range from 17° to 40°, sun – fog – rain – humidity all possible along the way.
Fully loaded Aid Stations every 40+ km.
Breathtaking scenery of Costa Rican landscape including views of the Arenal Volcano to finish at a Hot springs water resort/waterpark in La Fortuna.
