Lost Shores Gran Fondo

Lost Shores Gran Fondo

September 08 2018
Guysborough, Nova Scotia, Canada

Welcome to the Nova Scotia's Lost Shores! Largely undiscovered, this hidden corner of Nova Scotia boasts delightful low-traffic oceanfront roads connecting 25 fishing communities.

Our recorded European history goes back to 1397 when Prince Henry St Clair brought an expedition. Later, the French and British fished and fought their battles. By the end of the 1700s most areas were settled by a mix of French, British and German families, almost all of whom were refugees from one conflict or another. There were some prosperous times long ago but the decline of the fishing industry has lead to an outmigration that has spread homesick Nova Scotians all over the planet.

Be a part of this rich history and experience the third annual Lost Shores Gran Fondo. With 4 road routes of 35km, 50km, 90km and 120 km and one 30km rail trail route, this event has something for every fitness level. Good roads with almost no cars provide enjoyable riding while the rolling hills along the ocean provide both scenic vistas and more challenge than many expect.

We'll provide well marked routes, chip timing, lots of friendly volunteers, daycare, 7 well-stocked rest stops, hot showers, craft beers, live music and a tasty BBQ ribs/chicken feast. All entrants get a Garneau Tour custom jersey.

See you in September!

Most riders will pass the iconic Queensport Lighthouse. The 35 km Intervale Loop provides a more leisurely ride along the water with minimal hills. The 120 km Tickle Loop offers more challenge than many riders expect. The 50 km Queensport route offers stunning vistas as it follows the Chedabucto Bay shoreline. The Larrys River folks take special pride in offering a very noisy Acadian welcome.Welcome to the Lost Shores.
