Ride with the Pros in a challenging Gran Fondo in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina - Oct 27th

UKCE Nottinghamshire Wheeler

UKCE Nottinghamshire Wheeler

July 22 2018
East Midlands, UK

In its second year, the Nottinghamshire Wheeler Sportive has been given an earlier slot in the calendar giving you a chance to take in the brisk and winding byways of rural Nottinghamshire during the summer months. If you enjoyed last years Autumnal ride, you’re going to love it this year.

We start out from Southwell Racecourse and after cutting through Southwell itself we head out north, winding through quaint English villages on gently undulating terrain. After passing through Sutton-on-Trent, Standard riders will point their steeds west towards Tuxford, while Epic riders continue on a northerly tack. The Epic route takes in more of glorious Nottinghamshire: crossing railway lines and canals, bisecting swathes of pastureland — you really begin to get a sense of the area.

After reaching Retford we work our way south, dropping down through the lovely village of Egmanton then continue to Farnsfield before finally heading east again through Southwell and back home.

Although all our rides are non competitive events (i.e. not races), most people still like to know how well they’ve done. With this in mind we will time each participants ride. When you complete your ride your time will be calculated and these timings, along with the timing Award you achieved, will be displayed on the Website. Each rider will receive a timing award of either; bronze, silver or gold, depending on their average speed. Of course, some riders aren't bothered about all these awards and just cycle for the experience and stunning scenery.
