Alex Warburton Memorial Reliability Ride 2017

Alex Warburton Memorial Reliability Ride

February 25 2018
Leeds, Yorkshire, UK

AlbaRosa are hosting the Alex Warburton Memorial Reliability Ride on Sunday 25th FEB.

Alex was a former member of our club who unfortunately passed away following his return from the usual weekend club run. We established our leg of the Hateful Eight in his memory, so that his passion and keeness for a sunday run would live on across Yorkshire!

It starts at The Lawnswood Arms at 09:30 which has parking (round the back please!) and will be serving coffee/tea before you set off and where you can have a cracking Sunday lunch afterwards.

We’ve changed the route this year and will be heading East with a lumpy return and a stern test up Creskeld Lane to finish.

You can download the route here:

Otherwise, we will have printed maps on the day and a few laptops with Garmin usb cables where you can download the route there and then.

Look forward to seeing as many people out as possible, it promises to be a smashing day, a fantastic route with a great venue to finish at.

A reliability ride is known as a test of a cyclist’s reliability and that of their bike coming out of the winter period.  The emphasis is on fitness, self-reliance and navigational skills, although they are also used by competitive cyclists for training ahead of the racing season.

The route is not signposted but a basic route map or description may be provided (along with a GPS file these days). There are no feedstations, timing chips or souvenir t-shirts etc, although refreshments are available following the ride.

The ride is not a race.  Like a normal cycling club ride, it takes place on open roads and without marshals etc.  It is imperative that participants ride responsibly and in accordance with the Highway Code.
