Kandango Bicycle Tour

Kandango Bicycle Tour

May 31 - June 03 2018
Manhattan, Kansas, USA

This year’s Kandango features two rides - a road and a gravel. The original road ride features some of the best secondary blacktop in the state. The gravel ride takes riders on some of the most beautiful back roads in the Flint Hills.

Both rides come together each day at stops along the way. The road riders and gravel grinders converge at St. Joseph's Historic Church on Frday, Olsburg on Saturday and Volland on Sunday,

And the K2R BBQ Extravaganza returns on Saturday night. Don't miss the LIttle Grill on Thursday!

The K2r

We return to the Flint Hills to visit some of our favorite destinations. Friday’s ride “Return to the Yonderosa” features the most miles of secondary blacktop (240 miles of blacktop), to date. Over 70 miles of the ride do not touch the highway. Saturday’s ride (The Life of Riley) returns the Kandango Nation to Olsburg, on a scenic tour of Riley County. We finish things off with a new and improved finale to Alta Vista on Sunday (Alma Ho). Say adios to the highway miles on K-177 and hello to a kinder and gentler ride into Alta Vista, en route to Alma.

The G2
Our gravel grinder ride covers the same ground the K2r travels, only on gravel (147 miles). Riders experience the same meeting towns and fun with the K2r riders. Parallel play in the prairie.

Gravel Grinder Testimonial:

"Over the past decade I've enjoyed numerous organized road rides like Kandango throughout the Midwest.  This past year my brother and I decided to take on Marshal Taco's challenge of riding Kandango's first gravel grinder. It was amazing!  The roads that we rode were surprisingly smooth which allowed us to make good time each day despite the usual "in your face" Kansas winds. There was a surreal sense of being much closer to the outdoors throughout the ride which made the ride much more relaxing and enjoyable.  Our encounters with vehicles were very few and when cars did approach us it was with caution and a friendly wave. Getting "dusted" was a non-issue.  We covered about 110 miles over two days and took advantage of a local farmer's advice to get further off the beaten path riding down the service path alongside the railroad tracks into White City. Definitely an added plus to the ride as we got further connected to the outdoors.  We're definitely looking forward to another great ride next year and look to be in the company of many others as they join us on Marshal Taco's grinder!"
