Napa9

Napa9

October 04 2020
Napa, California, USA

NEW 2020 DATE Sunday, October 4th - plus option C - a fully virtual experience

The Napa9 event is NOT for casual cyclists or even more experienced ones. The route is nearly 125 miles and boasts a whooping 13K-13.5K (depends on whose Garmin you look at) of climbing. The ride sends you up several of the steepest climbs (and down the steepest descents) in Napa Valley. Wild Horse Valley starts the day, followed by Mt. George, Atlas Peak, which is the longest climb at 10 miles and Soda Canyon, where the views are as spectacular as the steepness as you grind your way to the top. This ride takes both physical and mental toughness.

Napa9 raises funds for an important cause: The Napa Police Youth Services Bureau. We already know that 2020 is requiring the Napa Police Youth Services Bureau to have additional needs, and for that reason, we are adding a “Buy a Backpack” for $25. Each Backpack will be filled with school supplies for our youth in need, even if school is virtual.

DUE TO COVID-19, WE HAVE HAD TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS IN THIS EVENT.

OPTION A - Stay the course, Napa9 in one day (with SAG) - #epic!

OPTION B - Take 9 days to do all 9 peaks (no SAG) but you'll still have bragging rights (and likely triple your mileage)

OPTION C - Wherever you may be, ride virtually with us on October 4th - report your elevation and mileage

1. OPTION A - Your ride on our planned event date; we will have a rolling start at 5:30am and roving SAG.  Our start will have 3 groups of 6 to 10 cyclists. All to be staged socially distant apart.

2. The ride, ideally, must be done in one day, but this year we are offering a virtual option and you can take 9 days to complete the 9 peaks. We will not be timing this option.

3. While it's not a race, rather a journey, we will be mailing out podium prizes. We also have a lantern rouge too!

4. OPTION B - For the virtual Napa9, you have 9 days to complete the challenge - September 4th - September 12th, 2020.

5. If you would like to complete the event on another date, plan to take (and stash) extra nutrition and hydration. There are three stores along the route, Soda Canyon Market, Luna Market and Oakville Grocery.

6. If you can’t join us at all, you still are able to donate or buy a Napa9 Backpack, and we would be grateful.

Thank you for your support. Keep up the training. See you September 6th or see you virtually.
