2018 Haute Route North America

WWTW Double Downs

The Double Downs.

September 01 2018
Hampshire, South East, UK

The South Downs National Park will play host to Walking With The Wounded’s latest adrenaline-fuelled challenge on Saturday 1st September 2018: The Double Downs.

This one-day cycling challenge promises to be a truly uplifting event as cyclists take on the famous chalk hills from the start in Winchester alongside inspirational wounded servicemen and women - including wounded veteran and GB team para-cyclist Jaco Van Gass who was part of the charity’s expedition teams to the North Pole and Everest.

"As an Ambassador for WWTW, I'm always keen to support events to help raise funds to support my fellow veterans back to the workplace. The Double Downs promises to be a tough, but fun, day out on the bike in the wonderful setting of the South Downs National Park. I hope that many people are inspired to join me on this ride. Remember, two riders raising £250 each will fund one veteran through a 12-session course of Head Start, WWTW's Mental Health Programme. See you on September 1st in Winchester!" Jaco Van Gass

Riders taking on the Double Downs challenge will raise funds to support the UK’s most at-risk veterans, suffering from physical, mental and social challenges, to reintegrate into society and lead productive and fulfilling lives.

Our challenging route utilises the South Downs Way and surrounding lanes and tracks. There will be two time cut offs on the course. If you are outside the time limit, you will be rerouted to begin your return journey to Winchester.
