Farm to Fork Fondo

Farm to Fork Fondo - Finger Lakes

August 10, 2019 - Burdett, New York, USA

Farm-winery Atwater Estate Vineyards in Burdett, NY, will be start-finish venue, and will also host a pre-ride 'Meet the Farmers Dinner' the evening before, catered by farm-to-table specialists Serendipity Catering.

The Finger Lakes area is New York's largest wine producing region. Over 100 wineries and vineyards are located around Seneca, Cayuga, Canandaigua, Keuka, Conesus, and Hemlock Lakes. Because of the lakes' great depth, they provide a lake effect to the lush vineyards that flank their shores.

The Finger Lakes has become one of the most diversified agricultural areas of New York. The region is also home to a hard cider renaissance, a strong cheese alliance, and a broad range of farms participating agritourism. Most of the farms are family owned and range from part-time farmers to large farms with millions of dollars invested. In addition to dozens of dairy farms, the local farms also produce a variety of flavorful grapes, apples, cherries, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries depending on the season.
