2017 UCI Gran Fondo World Champs

August 24 - August 27 2017
Albi, France

We welcome all cyclists and visitors interested in our French and international event of 2017: Albi World Championships UCI Gran Fondo. From the design of the 2017 Albi Cycling project, we relied on the city of Albi, we received an enthusiastic welcome from Stephanie Guiraud Chaumeil, Mayor, Michel Franques, Deputy Sports and County councilor, as well as the club Albi Velo Sport ’s experience in organizing high level cycling events. The national authorities of the French Cycling Federation have heard, David Lappartient President of the FFC and the European Cycling Union, UCI Vice President supported our candidacy with the UCI and this is how we organize these World Championships UCI Granfondo in 2017, succeeding Perth with pride and with great hope to host all amateur cyclists in our beautiful South West region of France Occitane.

The road race circuits will start in the heart of the Episcopal City. The international field for both races will pass along the river Tarn, before exploring the vineyards of Gaillacois. Circuit of 149 kms for all the men categories under 60 years old and 97 kms for all the female categories and men + 60.

The landscapes of the Grand Tour 155 kms, divided for the start and for the final with the previous route will delight followers as much as the riders, with views of Castelnau de Montmirail, Puyceslci, Bruniquel, Penne, Corniche Brousse Saint Antonin Noble Val and Cordes, offering sumptuous shots. The peloton will cross the coast, however, de Castelnau, the long climb to Vaour and its secular Megalith, difficult cliff St. Antonin and the slopes of the vineyard on the way home. A selective course perspective which will test all riders!

The 97 km circuit has an undulating profile after Labastide de Lévis at 10 km, natural selection will be at the discretion of the repetition of frequent climbs after Cahuzac sur Vere, then after Cordes and the famous coastline of Moulin de Julien. The arrivals on the Albi Motor Racing Circuit will see the best women of 2017, as well the men over 60.
