In this phase, typically in Spring, you lay down the foundation of longer rides that allow your body to adapt to riding for over 5 hours of more.

In fact some of the big Gran Fondos in the mountains will take you anywhere from 5 to 10 hours to complete.

Montana Looking to Ban Cyclists from Some Roads

The draft bill will ban cyclists from two-lane rural roads without a shoulder or cycle lane running alongside, effectively banning cyclists from a large number of the state’s roads, forcing them off road or onto gravel roads instead.

The bill also means that cyclists are not allowed to ride side-by-side on the road at any time, only single file at all times.

Understandably, the state’s cycling community are not happy about the proposed changes, which would effectively ban road riding outside of towns.

6th Annual Passport to Pain on Vashon Island

On Saturday, Sept10 in beautiful weather, hundreds of cyclists from all over the U.S. made the journey to Washington state for the vertically challenging but fun 6th Annual Passport to Pain cycle challenge.

Despite 10,000 vertical feet to climb, P2P organizers prided themselves on making the experience feel like a party on wheels. A dedicated team of event staffers regaled riders at each of the 18 checkpoints. Wearing outlandish costumes and providing comedic relief, they stood at the ready to collect clothing, stamp passports and provide refreshments.

Whether riders completed the Idiot, the Weasel, or the Weenie, they all combined for a fun-filled party at the finish line and an over-the-top pile of BBQ to devour!

What is a Century Ride?

A century ride is a badge of honor among cyclists. Get ready to suffer amidst scenic views over the course of 100 miles and then celebrate your achievement.

Century Rides have traditionally been the backbone of road cycling, supported and sponsored by local cycling clubs across the country.

A century ride is of course 100 miles in distance, but most events support different distances, for all abilities.
