Axeon Hagens Berman Mourns Chad Young

Chad Young did not survive his crash last Sunday on the Tour of the Gila.

The 21-year-old from Newmarket, New Hampshire, suffered severe head injuries in a high-speed mountain descent and was life-flighted to a hospital in Tucson, Arizona. He was initially listed in stable condition with severe facial lacerations, although on Tuesday, Young’s team announced that he was in critical condition.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chad's family and friends, during this devastating and difficult time.

The Assault on Mt. Mitchell is a 102 mile from downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina, along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, to the summit at Mt. Mitchell State Park in North Carolina and the Assault on Marion is a 74 mile ride and just as enjoyable and engaging with rolling hills, multiple climbs, and compelling North Carolina scenery.

Tejay van Garderen and Rohan Dennis will make their Giro d’Italia debut when they line up next week as BMC Racing Team’s leaders at the 100th edition of the race.

Van Garderen, who is the team’s primary leader, will join forces with Dennis, who is there to test his Grand Tour General Classification abilities.

Dennis has his sights set on a gradual Grand Tour development that starts next week in Italy.

Around five thousands mourners attended the funeral of cyclist Michele Scarponi in his home town of Filottrano on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old was killed when he was hit by a van close to his home during a training ride on Saturday, just days after he had finished fourth overall in the Tour of the Alps.

Members of Scarponi's Astana team, led by Fabio Aru, were joined by others including former team-mate Vincenzo Nibali and world champion Peter Sagan at his funeral.

The riders were hit by a car then beaten and stabbed by the occupants as they immobilized the car and desperately called the police.

Seven thousand expected to attend Michele Scarponi’s funeral on Tuesday April 25th at the local football stadium in his home town of Filottrano, Italy.

Alejandro Valverde has dedicated his recent prize money to the Scarponi family.

In heartbreaking news, Scarponi's macaw, Frankie, was seen sitting alone on a sign at the crossroads where the tragedy took place, where tributes were being laid, clearly missing his training partner.
